Is there really a difference between the two? I checked the definitions of both words on www.dictionary.com and here's what they have to say:
blog (blŏg) Pronunciation Key
n. A weblog.
intr.v. blogged, blog·ging, blogs
To write entries in, add material to, or maintain a weblog.
jour·nal /ˈdʒɜrnl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[jur-nl] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a daily record, as of occurrences, experiences, or observations: She kept a journal during her European trip.
These seem like pretty much the same thing only in a journal they say it's a daily record. Now, I don't write daily in this thing so does that make me a blogger?
blogger
noun
a person who keeps and updates a blog
Journalizer
A person who keeps or makes entries in a journal
I guess it's really just a matter of choice in how one describes themselves. I do believe I'll go with journalizer. I just like the way it sounds; much better than blogger which sounds like blahgger, which is, well, blah.
